Biography of Randy

Randy is a California native born 1954

These days, Randy is spending more time outdoors in the 'Plein Air'. She will be participating in the upcoming Martis Valley Plein Air Event in the Tahoe area. You will also find her downtown Sacramento, studying figure painting with Terry Miurra. She says, "I want to paint better. My goal is to spend time learning to 'see through artists eyes', so I decided to paint more from life. This will improve my studio painting skills, I'm sure".  They say if you can learn to paint the figure well, you can paint anything well. I also think working outdoors more will continue to grow me as an artist. I will rely more and more on my outdoor studies to paint landscapes in the studio. I love the California landscape, and it's in my own backyard."
Her love for art began in junior high and she then focused on art in college before she began raising a family. Randy rediscovered her passion to learn and grow as an artist in the year 2000, when she started oil painting classes with Anita Wolff, in Camino, California. While working with Anita, Randy attended several workshops in the area with artists such as Richard McDaniel, Hedi Moran and Susan Sarback. She devoured every book she could get about painting technique and composition with special interest in those written by Edgar Payne, Richard Schmid, Ted Goerschner and Dan McCaw. Last year Randy began studying with Brigitte Curt at the California Academy of Painters in Palo Alto, California. Most recently, she has returned from studying with Ovanes Berberian in Idaho.
Randy considers every day a gift, another chance to express herself as an artist. She has sold many of her paintings from her studio and is working to find those whom might best represent her in the world of art.
