The painting a day is going well. I have totally enjoyed the experience so far. The days have been beautiful and the grass is beginning to green up. I'm even more in love with this view!

It feels good to get started on my 50 in 50 paintings. It has been four days and so far, so good. The weather is cold and dreary, so I've started out painting mostly fog. It is amazing to me just how many times the colors can change in a landscape in a 24 hour period but still I will rely on the light changing throughout each day to stay away from painting the same colors every day, at least until the weather changes and the season begins to go into Spring. Can't wait and I am already beginning to get excited about where this is going in the long haul.

Oils on Linen Happenings
I will be participating in the upcoming show "50 in 50" at 20th Street Art Gallery in the midtown area of Sacramento. The show is going to be included in the Second Saturday Artwalk at the gallery in April, 2007. We have been challenged to paint 50 paintings in 50 days with the starting gun February 1st. We were encouraged to choose a subject or topic and to paint everyday with this topic in mind. It's a great idea and it appealed to me immediately because I feel that at this point in my painting career, my painting technique will benefit from the experience.
I have chosen to paint the view from my studio, the rolling oaks with a partial view of Folsom Lake, Empire Ranch area and El Dorado Hills. The paintings are very small (6"x6"), which will make it especially challenging for me and my "heavy paint filled brush" style.
Please stay tuned as I will be posting these little jewels (or not), as often as I can through the next seven weeks. Hope you can check back often.
Sincerely, Randy
