I will be traveling to France for the first time. I am very excited for the opportunity to paint with Brigitte Curt and
Jim Smyth in the villages of Provence near Simiane La Rotonde .

Painting in Provence at the height of the Lavender season is an unforgettable experience for any artist, as evidenced by the works of the great French masters.  The classified villages of Provence are kept as they were hundreds of years ago, retaining the charm, character and elegance of great historic periods.  You will be inspired to new heights by the incredible architecture, beautiful Lavender fields in full bloom, the culture and welcoming people of the area, and a supportive peer group and instructors. I won't be posting during my travels often, but will try to take lots and lots of photos to share. I will documento my experience the best I can and my paintings as well. The painting has begun and we are about 15 days into it. I am enjoying my daily painting more than ever before. It has become fun and exciting, mostly because of my subject matter. I am painting the "Gardens of Monet" for the show this year. I have been exploring this subject matter for the past few months, so it seemed the perfect exercise. I'm looking forward to getting them photographed and online for your viewing. I am painting the lily pond, the rose and iris gardens and pathways, the boat, the home of Monet and much more. I can't wait to paint some of these into large paintings.
Also, I'm planning a trip to France in July and will have more info about that coming soon. Very excited about painting the Provence Hillsides and lavendar fields.

The new Sacramento Art Complex in Midtown, Sacramento houses the "Smith Midtown Gallery" and local artist studios. Join us this coming Saturday, December13th. Meet the artists and enjoy the tour through this unique art complex. Plenty of original artworks, large and small! The Second Saturday Artwalk in Sacramento is an outstanding event - come early, have dinner and enjoy the evening.

A Storybook Show Invitational
The Premise:
50 artists, one sentence, three panels/pieces of art. All three will be exhibited in the gallery. One piece per artist will be chosen for reproduction in a gift book that will be available for sale throughout the show. Sentences from the story written by a local author, Debbie Keller Muldavin, were chosen at random, one for each artist to create three paintings each.

This is an action packed week in the Truckee/Tahoe area. Artists will paint for three days, The Martis Valley. Saturday the 4th at 10:30 am at the Village at Northstar a slideshow will be presented by Jean Stern, Director of the Irvine Museum, "The First 100 Years of Plein Air Painting in California".
